In the late 1980's WIN partnered with four Independent Telephone Companies and U.S. Cellular to obtain licensing to provide cellular telephone service in Greene, Carroll, Sac, Calhoun and Ida counties. By the year 2003, U.S. Cellular became the nation's eighth largest wireless service carrier, providing wireless service to more than 4.1 million customers in 149 markets throughout 25 states.

Calling Areas

It's important to understand the difference between phone use within your calling area and outside of your calling area. Your calling area is based on the plan that you sign up for and where you subscribe to U.S. Cellular service.
