IT Technician

 

Breda Telephone Corporation d/b/a Western Iowa Networks is looking for a full-time IT Technician for their Breda, IA operations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist with the development, implementation, installation, and operation of the organization’s internal and external networks
  • Manage computer operation scheduling, backup, storage, and retrieval functions
  • Maintain computer hardware and peripheral equipment
  • Understand and support connectivity of the organization’s internal and external equipment, and protocols in use
  • Perform installation, configuration, and customization on workstations and laptops
  • Maintain operating systems and applications by seeking upgrades, updates, and patches as necessary
  • Review technical problems and recommend solutions or changes to enhance the company’s operations
  • Ability to complete designated amount of work in a specified timeframe, adjusting work assignments or schedules to meet changing work-related priorities or demands
  • Ability to work well with others to achieve common goals and to foster a cooperative climate, as well as to work independently with little supervision
  • Installation, maintenance, and testing of customer  services

 

Experience/Skills:

  • Two or four-year degree in Network Systems Administration or related telecom field and/or equivalent amount of experience
  • Know how to install, upgrade, troubleshoot, repair and maintain computers, hardware
    and software, peripherals and other external devices. Networking background is
    a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Windows Vista 7/8.1/10 and above
  • Working knowledge of server operating systems. Familiarity with Linux is a plus.
  • Willingness to further education with industry certifications
  • MetaSwitch and Calix knowledge preferred
  • High-level of attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • Individual needs to be very customer oriented
  • Must have a good driving record, and be insurable

Network Engineer

 

Breda Telephone Corporation d/b/a Western Iowa Networks is looking for a full-time Network Engineer for their Breda, IA operations.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Evaluate and standardize technologies and architectures in relation to the infrastructure and service needs of Western Iowa Networks.
  • Monitor network, equipment, and customer circuits.
  • Attends various meetings with management, departments and vendors to ensure company objectives are met. Participates in inter-departmental planning meetings to coordinate and communicate activities related to the successful completion of projects.
  • Work closely with other departments to design and roll out new data infrastructure, technologies and services.
  • Designing, configuring and commissioning network elements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Director of Operations.
  • Assist with installation and configuration of network and other IT equipment including servers, routers, switches, computers, monitors and printers

Requirements Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge of modern service provider data networks, technologies and protocols such as OSPF, BGP4, MPLS.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and the ability to design Layers 1, 2, and 3 of the OSI model.
  • Strong working knowledge of IP security architecture and protocols.
  • Solid experience in designing and supporting IP networks for voice, data and video in a Service Provider environment using SIP, RTP, & Multicast.
  • Skill in troubleshooting, problem identification and resolution.
  • Skill in oral and written communication with the ability to communicate with customers, employees, and various business contacts in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Skill in reading and interpreting technical documents such as vendor deployment guidelines, white papers and configuration manuals.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple work assignments.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail.
  • Ability to make sound decisions using information at hand.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Networking or related field plus three to six years of telecommunications technical experience or five to ten years of relevant telecommunications technical experience.
  • Current CCNA or CCNP Certification.
  • MetaSwitch knowledge preferred.
  • Calix knowledge preferred.
  • Brocade knowledge preferred.

Customer Service/Retail Sales Consultant

 

Breda Telephone Corporation d/b/a Western Iowa Networks is looking for a full-time Customer Service/Retail Sales Consultant for the Carroll, IA office.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist customers with questions on telephone, cable, Internet, and/or cellular services.
  • Respond to customers calling in for new service, changes to existing service, or trouble with service.
  • Answer any general questions regarding services and troubleshoot basic customer problems in these fields.
  • Assist customers with questions on their billing accounts.
  • Program/Reprogram cellular phones and activate customer accounts.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to new customers, existing customers, and potential customers.
  • Answer telephones and handle calls promptly
  • Serve all customers with problems or questions relating to all services.
  • Direct calls and customer questions to appropriate department.
  • Serve all customers with problems or questions relating to Phone, Cable, Internet, and/or Cellular.
  • Keep abreast of the company’s services provided and related technology in order to provide accurate answers to customers.
  • Telemarket for prospective customers
  • The work schedule is 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and a rotating schedule for working Saturdays.

Experience/Skills required:

  • Experience in Customer Service and/or Retail Sales Preferred
  • Knowledge of Telecommunications Beneficial
  • Cellular Industry Experience Beneficial
  • Excellent Written and Verbal Communication Skills Required
  • Experience with Innovative Systems Software a plus
